What We Believe

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original writing.

We believe that God is the Supreme Being who has the ground of His existence in Himself.

We believe that God the Father concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men and women and that in love He planned the salvation of sinners before the foundation of the world and at that time He chose individuals and made provision so that when they trust in Christ they are made holy and blameless before Him; and that He presently and eternally blessed them with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God the only begotten Son and always existed with the Father, that He is the agent of Creation and the only Lord and Savior, that He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a Virgin Birth, that He was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead bodily, that He intercedes for believers today at the right hand of God the Father and is coming again to reign over His creation.

We believe that God the Holy Spirit reveals the character of the Father and the work and words of the Son, that His ministry is to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment; that He effects the new birth baptizing believers into one body, sealing, indwelling, and interceding for them and that He produces growth and fruit by comforting, empowering, filling, instructing, and unifying believers who are abiding in the Word.

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, that in Adam he lost his spiritual life, became dead in trespasses and sins, and subject to the power of the Devil, incapable of doing anything to please God. We believe this depraved condition has been transmitted to the entire human race, the man, Christ Jesus alone being accepted. Hence every child is born into the world with a nature which does not possess divine life, but is essentially and unchangeably alienated from God apart from divine grace.

We believe in the reality and the personality of a most evil spirit called the Devil, Satan, and various other names. His doom was sealed through Christ’s death on the cross and will be consummated in the Lake of Fire.

We believe that sin is an offense against God. When Adam sinned in disobeying God all his descendants inherited the sin in him and the human race became sinful.

We believe in a literal hell and that those who do not receive God’s remedy for sin, the position of redemption in Jesus Christ, are eternally lost.

We believe that the word atonement comprises the all-inclusive work of the Godhead in the salvation of sinners, that the Son of God, who by appointment of the Father, freely took upon Himself our nature, yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience and by His sacrifice for our sins, which was proven acceptable to God by His bodily resurrection from the dead.

We believe that by faith in the person and substitutionary work of Jesus Christ and by God’s perfect righteousness being imputed into us we are justified.

We declare that each gathered group of believers performing in accordance with New Testament directions forms the local church declared to be the pillar and ground of the truth through which the wisdom of God is made known.
